The Tribe is Coming…Get Ready

December 29, 2008

Well next week is the first Sunday of the new year. 2009! Can you believe that 2008 has already passed us by. My pledge, not my New Years Resolution, No my pledge to myself, to my wife, to my family, to my friends and to my church is that I will do everything I can with all the strength God has given me to see people won for Jesus Christ this year. I will do all I can to see Cross View be an impact to the community of Rockmart. I will do everything I possibly can to work hard at connecting people inside the church, so people who are lost and have addictions and are broken will find a family who will love and care for them. I will do everything I can to be passionate every single Sunday as I lead our family to worship an almighty God and I will not care what people think of me, because I will lose myself in Him. I will do all I can to follow Christ wherever He leads me and will depend on Him for everything.

This coming Sunday we will be the Tribe….Are you ready? You better come prepared, cause you won’t be the same when you leave.

Well we finally have Online Giving available online at our website. This is a great way for those of you who never bring cash or checks to church with you. The link will take you to a page that you can fill out a simple form on what kind of gift you would like to give. You can use your credit or debit card to give an offering online instead of trying to remember to bring it on Sundays. Christmas Shopping is Done! (sorta)

December 16, 2008

Well I took off a few hours this morning so I could get some very much needed Christmas shopping done. I love going to the mall in the morning. I got there about 9 AM and was greeted with a group of senior citizens power-walking around the top of the mall. It was awesome! I mean they were moving. I seriously do not think I could have kept up with them if I was apart of their power-walking team.

Lately God has been using so much in my life to remind me about community. When I saw this huge group of seniors walking together (some friends, some strangers I am sure) I just felt the need for us as a church and people to have as much community with one another as possible. Just hanging out together and being real with one another is so vital to the growth of relationships and this thing we call a “family”.

I am very excited about the Old-Fashioned Potluck Lunch we will be doing coming up on January 11 of next year. I think it is going to be the perfect way to take away people’s excuses of “not being connected”. See there are some people who thirst and hunger for connection. Those are the people who find and build friendships. The people who come up to as many people as they can their first Sunday at church and won’t leave without meeting someone. Then there are those people who sit in the back, get out as quickly as possible after the services are over and do not make any attempt at all to be sought out. My friends we all have to do our part. If you are not connected, and want to be…then seek out connection. It is just that simple! We have tons of people there until an hour or more after the 2nd service and there are plenty of opportunities to get plugged in and involved.

So I say all that to say this…Potluck Lunch on January 11 is your opportunity to meet someone or tons of someones you have never met before. Bring your favorite dish or dessert and come hungry because it will be a great time of fellowship and FOOD!
